Online Book Study: Embedded Formative Assessment by Dylan Wiliam
Course Description
In this eight week online book study course, participants will read Embedded Formative Assessment by Dylan Wiliam, learn about formative assessment; what it is, what it is not. In addition participants will explore the five key strategies of formative assessment and practical techniques for implementing formative assessment in the classroom.
Course Requirements
Participants interested in 8 clock hours must:
Read the chapters as assigned.
All Chapters: Select one of the three question prompts for the chapter and respond to the question via a Blog post
Chapters 3-7: In addition to responding to a question prompt, select a practical technique at the end of each of these chapters and describe how you could use or adapt the technique for your classroom.
Epilogue – Read epilogue and as Dr. Wiliam suggests, choose one or two techniques from the book and try them in the classroom. Describe your experience with trying the techniques selected.
Participate fully as outlined each week. Partial clock hours for partial participation will NOT be granted.
Read and reply to cohort member’s posts (at least one reply each week).

How will I know what to do and when to do it?Your facilitator will send you reminder emails throughout the course with links to the appropriate page, but you are welcome to visit these pages ahead of time and work ahead if you'd like..The prompts will be sent each Tuesday, with the assignment due the following Tuesday.
